    The Consortium for the Protection of Asiago Cheese is set up.

    Marking moulds  (fascere) are distributed.

  • 1983

    Production exceeds one million cheeses.

  • 1989

    One billion lira invested in promotion.

  • 1990

    First advert on national television.

  • 1994

    Production exceeds 1.5 million cheeses.

  • 1996

    Asiago cheese is given DOP status by the European Union.

  • 2003

    New statute and rules approved.

  • 2006

    New rules.

  • 2009

    The Consortium celebrates its 30th anniversary.

  • 2010

    Exports increase by 30%.

  • 2011

    Sensory analysis is included in the production rules.

The Consortium for the Protection of Asiago Cheese, launched in 1979, guarantees that only cheese complying with the production rules can be called, recognised and sold as Asiago, upholding tradition and reinforcing the Asiago identity.
